In the fifth book in the Inconvenient Brides series, Caroline Brown has lost her friends and her self-respect for betraying her best friend with the woman’s fiancé, but she’s trying her best to rebuild her life by opening a millinery and dress-making shop in a new town. She’s determined not to get close to anyone again, but then she meets the handsome blacksmith.
After losing his beloved cousin, William Jackson has buried himself in building the family business. Though the reserved yet sunny modiste (fashionable dressmaker) intrigues him, he can’t let her close to his heart—at least until a snowy Christmas miracle changes everything.
Wow! What a wonderful story! I haven’t cried while reading a book in a long while, and this one really got me going. Both Caroline and William were so grief-stricken that their pain and shame leapt off the pages. I so badly wanted to hug them and tell them they were good people and that their mistakes shouldn’t define them for the rest of their lives. When they finally realized that themselves—with each other’s help, of course—I was so happy for them.
The book flowed well and kept my attention, and best of all, there were no typos! That’s always refreshing. I enjoyed Ms. Jarrett’s writing style, and though this is the first book I’ve read from her, it won’t be my last. I’m tempted the find the earlier books in the series because I liked this one so much, and I love how the next book is set up at the end of this one.
For lovers of Regency romance, holiday stories, or redemption tales, Caroline Saves the Blacksmith is a must read!
