Review
I2527ve read a few books by Kara Leigh Miller and loved them, but Jody Holford is a new-to-me author. This writing team wrote a wonderful book about love, redemption and finding one2527s self. I2527m not sure who wrote what part but the writing flowed smoothly from one author to the other.
Dr. Josh Parker works in the ER at a New York City hospital and he just lost a patient. Upset and thinking about his late wife, he rushes to the aid of Alessa Matthews, a beaten woman who was left for dead in an alley. He saves her life and their attraction is immediate. Though neither of them know each other, they both feel the connection and grow closer. She has selective amnesia and, with no place to go after she2527s released from the hospital, Josh takes her home.
Their romance is sweet and caring, all they do is kiss a few times, and the reader can feel what2527s between them is soul deep.
There are quite a few minor characters that add a lot of flavor to the story: David, a fellow doctor and Josh2527s mentor; Amanda, Josh2527s overprotective and loving sister; Ethan, Amanda2527s pastor husband and Josh2527s college friend; Kristy, Alessa2527s best friend from high school; and the villain, Raymond Scotts, a dirty politician who wants Alessa dead.
I think the story could2527ve used more description in a few areas, mainly the climax, because I wasn2527t sure what was going on. I just couldn2527t picture the scene and I had to think about it to piece it together, which took me out of the story a little.
I usually don2527t read Inspirational stories, but the evil politician/amnesiac heroine/hero doctor seemed like an awesome plot. The H/h seemed like regular people caught up in a bad situation and it was interesting to see how average folks saved the day. The story didn2527t preach too much, which is a good thing for someone who doesn’t read Inspirational, but everything said about religion fit well with the characters.
Overall, I really liked this story and I2527m excited to read the next one in the series.
