Review – ‘Midnight Hunt2527 by Arial Burnz

Blurb
Driven by the desire to have the true love she’s experienced in her dreams, MONIKA KONRAD uses her magical skills to weave a love spell during the waxing of the moon. As if in response, a strangely familiar Vamsyrian enters her village looking for wolfsbane. Could he be her soul mate delivered to her by the Gods? Or is he the answer to her prayers to protect her and her grandmother from the werewolf that killed her parents?
BRODERICK MAC DOUGAL is drawn to the powerful witch by a familiar force and a vision from the prophetess says Monika is the next phase in the prophecy. Rick makes the raven-haired wise woman his next pursuit to unravel this mystery of why she reminds him so much of his late wife, Davina. However, there are other supernatural forces surrounding her, exposing Rick to a darker side of this deal he made for immortality…and this enchanting nymph may be his salvation.
Broderick’s quest for answers causes a chain of events that starts a witch hunt, dooming both him and Monika to the fiery stake of judgment. And through these trials, they learn the Church has a new ally who is hunting down the members of the Army of Light.

Review
Book 3 is my favorite so far in the Bonded by Blood series. After the death of his beloved wife, Davina, eighty years ago, Broderick has done his best to survive on his own. His daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are all dead. He2527s all alone, except for a few humans who know he2527s a vamsyrian, a vampire. He took back over his family shipping business and lives night to night in the throes of work. He misses Davina with all his heart and it2527s heartbreaking to witness his depression. He2527s handling the anniversary of her death harder than usual because a mysterious force is pushing him across Europe for some unforeseen reason.
Then he meets Monika.
Monika is a fire witch (an Elemental), 23 years old, and a much stronger heroine than Davina and her daughter Cailin ever were. She2527s feisty, brave, self-assured and smart. She thinks before she acts and doesn2527t need a man to save her. She2527s been having some strange erotic dreams about a Scotsman, a man she2527s never met, and then she meets him in the flesh. Her connection with Broderick is instant but she doesn2527t know why. Broderick does but he2527s still unsure whether he trusts the miracles of second chances. Broderick is wonderful and sexy as always, and he2527s more of a gentleman in his courtship with Monika than he was with Davina. They grow closer and he soon realizes Monika is the reincarnated spirit of Davina.
The Catholic Church is terrorizing Europe through their witch trials and everyone is living in fear (it2527s 1636). Angus, Broderick2527s half-brother and sworn vampire enemy, has joined the Church and is burning members of the Army of Light as heretics to gain information from them. He2527s up to his nasty tricks as usual and, unfortunately, Broderick can2527t kill him due to the prophecy.
Werewolves and Elementals are the new species introduced. Thomas is a wolf who enlists Monika2527s help to find a cure. He2527s a handsome, savage man and there2527s more to him than meets the eye.
Even though I loved this book, the number of typos took me by surprise. Mostly comma splices, missing words and spelling mistakes. I don2527t understand why the previous books were so well-edited and this one wasn2527t. Also, I found some of the word choices odd and confusing. I soooo wanted to give this book 5 stars but I just can2527t do it because of the typos.
4 Stars
