#BookReview – ‘Desert Hunt2527 by Anna Lowe

Blurb

Rae has a secret — one she can2527t allow any wolf pack to discover. But with an old enemy hot on her heels, she has no option but to trust Zack, the man from the wrong side of the tracks. Taking off on the back of Zack’s Harley seems like good idea at first, but when she lowers her defenses for the captivating coyote shifter, she might just be risking it all.

The new she-wolf in town may be strictly off-limits, but Zack just can2527t keep away. When the thrill of the chase gets his blood pumping in more ways than one, he2527s ready to overstep every boundary and break every rule. Destiny says she2527s his—but the pack2527s ruling alpha says she belongs to another.

There2527s more than meets the eye on Twin Moon Ranch, home to a pack of shapeshifting wolves willing to battle for life and love.

Review

Rae is a werewolf with a secret. She doesn2527t trust most
people, especially alpha males, and she hates living under the horrible alpha
of her current pack. When she finally receives a long-awaited transfer to the
Twin Moon Ranch in Arizona, she doesn2527t know what to expect but finds a kinship
to the earth while avoiding the other wolves at her new home. But she can2527t
avoid Zach, a mix bred, and her inner wolf knows he2527s her mate. A mate she
never wanted.
Half coyote and half wolf, Zach knows what it2527s like to
be an outcast. His two animals constantly nag at Zach and argue with each other
in his head, but they2527re in agreement when they sniff out Rae. She2527s their
mate. His best friend, Ty, is the reigning alpha2527s son and set to inherit the pack
someday. He2527s just as lonely as Zach, probably more so, but he2527s obedient when
it comes to his father. The cruel alpha, Old Tyrone, demands that no one touches
the new she-wolf, but Zach can2527t help the pull between him and Rae.
Rae and Zach are very likeable characters. The reader
feels their hesitancy, loneliness, and alienation, and the strength they both
find to love and trust the other.
Though I really liked this shifter story, the fight scene
with the bad guy at the end was a little predictable. Rae2527s actions over a
perceived betrayal irked me, but I understand she needed personal time to fight
her own demons before she gave herself fully to her destined mate.
My favorite scene is Zach and Ty2527s “play” fight. I love a
good bromance, and these two sexy shifters have that down pat.
This is a prequel novella to the Wolves of Twin Moon
Ranch series, and I2527m definitely interested in reading the other books.
