A genre switch and an explanation…
So, if you know me (and I hope you do!! Heehee) you know I write basically romantic comedies and romance stories about big families. I like the light and fluffy, feel-good-feel of RomComs, and families are so precious to me since I grew up an only child in a divorced household.
With the publication by the Wild Rose Press on my newest book, A PRIDE OF BROTHERS: RICK, the first in a three book series, I2527ve departed from my usual writing fare and slipped into the Romantic Suspense Lite genre.
You may ask why I2527ve gone down this crooked road. Well, I2527ll tell ya.
A few years back I had a trilogy published by Lyrical Press titled the WILL COOK FOR LOVE series. The books centered on a famous cheflebrity and her sisters. In the second book, A SHOT AT LOVE, I introduced a private eye/bodyguard friend of my heroine2527s, by the name of Rick Bannerman. After the book was out in the romance reading world I received so many comments from readers who asked when Rick2527s HEA story was going to be told. Apparently, he was a big hit with people, even though he2527s only in 3 chapters, and marginally at that.
In all honesty, I hadn2527t considered it.
But, like things do, an idea began to work into my head last year and the only character I could see bringing the idea to fruition was Rick. To do so adequately though, his story couldn2527t be a typical boy meets girl romance. No, it had to have some element of danger in it and some way for Rick to show off all his great skills. Hence, writing a romantic suspense seemed appropriate.
Now I2527ve billed this book as Romantic Suspense lite. It2527s a term a writer friend of mine, Kari Lemor, coined to describe her books: a little suspense, a little mystery, and a lot of romance. I think the term fits Rick2527s story perfectly.
Yes, there are bad guys – from a stalker to a killer – who are after Abby and yes, Rick goes into alpha protection and fighting mode. There are even a few murders along the way of people close to Abby. But the main core of the book is getting these two vastly different people to realize how perfect they are for the each other.
I hope I2527ve whetted your reading appetites for Rick2527s story. Hee hee.

He pushed off the counter, took a few steps toward her, and then reached out a
hand to rub the cat2527s neck as she was doing.

“Being invaded, having your privacy and your quiet life infringed upon. I2527d be
mad, too.”
“Just…inconvenienced.”
though, I2527m sure. Your cop buddy will find Genocardi. As soon as the threat is
gone, I2527ll be out of your hair.”
cat2527s head. “You might want to grab my law book again, Bannerman.”

Abigail.” He pulled himself up to his full height and glared down his nose at
her.

do as well,” he told her.
