#BookReview – “Tinsel and Tea Cakes” by Jill Piscitello

Blurb

Hair stylist Scarlett Kerrigan lost her job and her apartment. To alleviate a touch of self-pity, she succumbs to her stepmom’s pressure to attend a wedding in the New Hampshire White Mountains. Unfortunately, she runs into the vacation fling who promised the moon but disappeared without an explanation. Months have passed, but she is not ready to forgive and forget.

After a chaotic year, executive Wes Harley settles into his family’s event venue, The Timeless Manor. His carefully structured world is shaken to its core when Scarlett arrives for the Victorian Christmas wedding weekend. The feelings he never quite erased flood to the surface.

When secrets are revealed, will a magical chateau and a sprinkle of tinsel be enough to charm Scarlett?

Review

Scarlett and her stepmother drive through a blizzard to attend a wedding at an exclusive fantasy-themed resort, and the last person Scarlett expects to see is the man she had a whirlwind romance with last year. He’d broken things off with her without an explanation, so now she’s determined to finally get some closure.

Wes is busy working at his family-owned special event resort, but he can’t keep away from Scarlett. Though he regrets how he ended things with her, he has a good reason for it, but will she understand and forgive him, or will he lose his second chance with her?

This is a really sweet, fun, clean romance. It’s fast-paced with likable characters and clever dialogue. All the descriptions about the Victorian-themed manor and holiday decorations were vivid and set a lovely scene.

I really enjoyed the story and will be on the lookout for books by Ms. Piscitello.
