Review

In book one in the multi-author Viking Surrender series, Eithne is awaiting her wedding day with trepidation, as are all the Pictish women and the one man who was chosen to wed the invading Vikings who have taken control of their small, war-torn village of Achranyire. As part of the marriage deal, Brandr and his men will fight off the village’s enemies and protect the area so they could take a wife and make a home among the village inhabitants.

Brandr, the Viking jarl, is fascinated with his bride-to-be. Her strength and intelligence calls to him, but he demands obedience in all things, especially in the bedroom. Eithne is the perfect blend of leader and submissive, but a joyous happenstance for her is his worst nightmare and threatens to tear them apart.

I really enjoyed Eithne and Brandr. They’re strong, stubborn characters who mesh well together and fell in love with each other fairly quickly. The ending was rather abrupt, but there is a HEA. I teared up a few times, and it’s always nice when characters pull at my heartstrings.
