Blurb
Romance wasn’t on the roster…until he walked onto the field.
Newly minted veterinarian, Dr. Laney Montgomery, loves a well-groomed man. Preferably with defined abs and thick biceps. Unfortunately, her “type” tends to be accompanied by logistical baggage that is in direct opposition to her carefully orchestrated life.
When her latest dreamy disaster implodes, Laney reluctantly lets her overbearing brothers whisk her away to Nowhere, Texas for a temporary vet gig. But her brothers have a not-so-secret playbook and assume they can rope Laney into coaching the town’s team in the statewide Holiday Baseball Classic. Laney’s never been a girl who likes to be told what to do though, so she does what any strong willed, independent woman would and signs on to coach the rival team.
Sparks fly when the aggravatingly charming Jake Thomas takes the field to coach the orphaned team. With his easy swagger, questionable fashion choices, and slow smile, Jake is everything Laney avoids. And can’t stop thinking about.
As holiday lights twinkle and baseballs fly, Laney and Jake find themselves caught in a game of attraction they can’t afford to play. Add in two meddling brothers, dancing little leaguers, and an avalanche of adorable puppies, Laney’s perfectly planned life is about to unravel—one chaotic inning at a time.
Baseball & Snowfall is Book 3 in the Three Waves family saga trilogy, however, all books can be read independently.
Review
In the third and final book of the Three Waves Trilogy, Laney Montgomery just broke up with her boyfriend and left Canada to return home to her small Texas town. Her family is thrilled to have her back home, and her older brother, Max, is determined to wrangle her into accepting a coach position on a kids’ little league baseball team. Always the rebel, she signs up to coach the opposing team.
Jake Thomas is stuck in Texas for the time being, though he hopes to move back to Memphis and raise his young son there. Spark fly when he meets Laney, the new town vet. Though they’re coaching rivaling little league teams, they can’t stay away from each other. But they both have different dreams. How will they make a relationship work?
At first, I couldn’t connect with Laney. She’s definitely “too much,” as her ex-boyfriend put it, though I understood her better as the book went on. Jake was great from the start. He’s a struggling single dad with a cute kid that makes you want to melt. Their rivalry and camaraderie led to some great banter. I wish I understood the State Farm joke, but since I haven’t watched TV religiously in probably over a decade, I’ve missed those commercials.
I’ve only read the first book in this series, and while that one was a huge tearjerker, this one was more fun and uplifting with emotional moments, which is perfect for the holiday season. All these books can be read as standalones, so you won’t be lost if you only read this one.
Readers who enjoy snarky heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, and sports at Christmas, be sure to pick up a copy of Baseball & Snowfall.
