Blurb
Drop-dead gorgeous or drop-dead guilty?
When show girl Sasha Brozynski arrived at the chapel for her best friend’s wedding, the bride had disappeared without a trace and the identity of the groom was unknown.
Nick Donatelli, son of a crime boss, had a reputation as a ladykiller. As a matter of fact, two of his ex-girlfriends had been murdered. Furthermore, he’d been involved with the missing bride.
Sasha would do anything to find her friend…even seduce a dangerous male.
Review
Sasha arrives in Vegas for her best friend JoJo’s wedding—only to discover the bride has vanished. Her search leads her to The Caribbean casino, where JoJo once worked as a showgirl. With no one taking the disappearance seriously, Sasha goes undercover as a showgirl to get answers.
Nick Donatelli comes from a mafia family, and despite rumors about his connections and supposed crimes, he runs The Caribbean all above board. After he hires Sasha, he immediately sets out to seduce to her and discover her secrets. He doesn’t care much about JoJo’s disappearance, believing she wronged him, but his growing connection with Sasha forces his own past into the light.
Sasha was an awesome character. She was tough, confident, smart, and despite the trauma she’d experienced months earlier, was brave and determined to do whatever she had to order to find her missing friend. So many people were lying to her and pretending to be her friend that she didn’t know who to trust, but she held on to her sanity and acted like a mature adult.
I’m not sure how I feel about Nick. He had a rash temper, manhandled Sasha by grabbing her and purposely scaring her, and he refused to trust her but expected her to trust him. I really don’t like it when heroes put their manipulative sisters above the heroines, and he did that on occasion. On the flip side, he cared for Sasha and wanted to protect her. His arrogance definitely made him sexy and didn’t bother me. I wish there would’ve been more scenes in his POV, however, so I could’ve understood him better.
I really enjoyed the mystery of JoJo’s disappearance. Everyone was a suspect—and I mean everyone. Every single character besides Sasha had a reason to get rid of poor JoJo. Despite Sasha and Nick’s great chemistry, it was no wonder she didn’t trust him with all the evidence stacked against him. And his brutish actions didn’t make it easier for her.
The story ends with a HEA and some unanswered questions, though none affect the overall plot. There were also some distracting typos, but I liked the story and would love to read what happens in the next book, which features JoJo and Nick’s brother, Lucky.
My copy of this book came from the A Valentine She’ll Remember box set.
