Are your characters based on anyone you know?

Some characters have certain characteristics of people I know, but each character is an individual on their own. They’re not exactly like any one person.

What do you prefer: ebook, print, or audiobook? Why?

I prefer each one at different times. In general, I mostly read ebooks, but if a book has a lot of art included, for example a poetry book or history book with lots of photos, then I like a print copy. I enjoy listening to audiobooks at night when I’m going to sleep or if I’m trying to relax.

I feel the same way. Each format is perfect for when you need it. All writers suffer from writer’s block at least once in their career. What’s your go-to cure?

When I get writer’s block, I try writing something different. If I’m stuck on a story, I write whatever calls to me at the moment, whatever makes me feel good. That usually gets my creativity flowing again.

Working on something different helps me out too. Sometimes the romance genre gets a bad reputation for being cliché and full of Fabios. How do you respond to that?

I honestly don’t care if it’s cliché. I don’t care if it has a formula. I read romance to escape reality, so if a story makes me feel good and I connect to certain characters, I honestly don’t care what other people think. It’s the same with movies. If I like it, I couldn’t care less if others don’t. 

Well said! We all need a little inspiration in our lives. What’s your favorite quote and why?

I have to give 2 for this because I can’t decide between them. They’re both such good lessons.

Interesting! Besides writing and reading, what are some of your hobbies?

I love to watch horror movies. From old, silent ones to the most recent slasher movies, I watch as many as possible. Vampires. Werewolves. Zombies. Psychological horror. Found footage. Horror comedy. You name it! I also enjoy exercise and crafts, like making journals.

I’m a horror movie buff too! My hubby got me into them. Thank you for visiting. I always enjoy chatting with you.

Dominique lingered, staring at her from the shadow of a marble dragon.

“So you’re the artist everyone has been talking about,” the woman said, her back to Dominique. “I felt you watching me. What did you think?”

“Beautiful.” Dominique approached and stopped just inches from her. He sensed her smile.

“Wildcats are my specialty.”

Dominique took a moment to realize she had been referring to the tattoo.

“Everyone in this house is nearly mad with curiosity about what you’re painting,” she continued. “It seems only fair that since you’ve seen my work, I should see yours.”
