Emma’s Top Ten Book List
I’m going to cheat quite a bit on this list. Picking only 10 is too hard! So, in no particular order, here are some of my favorite books:
- The Masqueraders – Georgette Heyer
- Hunger Games — Suzanne Collins
- The Harry Potter Series — J. K. Rowling
- Dune — Frank Herbert
- The Nocturne Falls Series — Kristen Painter
- Outlander — Diana Gabaldon
- The Dirk & Steele Series — Marjorie M. Liu
- Chronicles of the Cheysuli — Jennifer Roberson
- The Tritone Trilogy — Judi Fennell
- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe — C.S. Lewis
Great choices, Emma! I love when my guest authors share their favorite books and series. Readers, what do you think about these books? I’d love to know!

Blurb:
On Lucy Legato’s seventy-sixth birthday, she makes a wish to fix the rocky relationship she has with her daughter, Tessa. Suddenly a bright light blinds her, and Lucy finds herself young again and back on the Jersey shore. Did she actually travel through time? Or did her life flash before her eyes because she was dying?
Lucy realizes she is not dead, but as impossible as it sounds, she’s been sent back to an earlier time in her life. So, while she’s there, she decides to keep a promise to her little girl. Tessa’s not the only one delighted. Serving up the treat is the flirty ice cream parlor owner. And he’s interested in more than good customer service! How far can she take this fantasy?
Excerpt:
I wish I could fix my crappy life. I puckered my lips and leaned in as close as I could to the muffin, shy of burning myself. I was a little short of breath these days, if I stayed too far back, I’d never get the candle out. I closed my eyes, repeated my wish, then blew.
Dizziness overcame me.
“Mom? Mom?” Tessa’s panicked voice grew distant.

A pleasant salty breeze brushed against my cheeks and the roar of waves crashing against the sand reached my ears.
Bright light blinded me and I blinked to clear my eyesight. What the hell? Was I having a stroke? Shouldn’t I be overwhelmed with pain and fear? But no, I felt good. Better than I had in years. I couldn’t drum up the worry I knew I should be feeling.
Someone tugged on my hand. “But Mom, you promised!”
Tessa? I opened my eyes and stared in astonishment.
An eight-year-old Tessa glared back at me. Golden brown hair tied up in high pigtails. Tears threatened to fall as she tried to pull me toward Sprinkle Time Ice Cream Parlor. “You promised,” she repeated.
My apartment was gone and I stood on the Ocean City boardwalk in New Jersey.

I love some of the same ones, especially CS Lewis! Good luck with your book!
Thanks for stopping by, Jennifer! I was just discussing the Narnia books with my son the other day, makes me want to re-read them.
Emma
I’ve only read one of your ten. I’ll have to check the others out.
Thanks for stopping by, Anna! Out of curiosity, which one have you read? It was so hard to narrow down my list.
Lion, Witch and The Wardrobe
Thanks so much for having me here today, Amber! Trying to narrow my list down to just 10 was so hard. (So I hope you forgive my cheating by including entire series!) Have a great weekend.
Emma
Of course. You’re welcome. I’m happy you stopped by.
Yeah, it’s so hard to pick the best of the best books. I totally get it. 🙂
Sounds like a great book! Best on it!
Thanks, Ilona!
