It’s time for another character interview. The heroine from author Eileen Troemel’s upcoming fantasy romance is visiting for a little chat. Let’s get started.
Thank you so much for being here. For the fans, what’s your name?
Solana
Very pretty! What do you look like?
My eyes are a burnt umber, my hair is purple and long. I have pointed ears and brown skin. I’m tall and thin. I have symbols on my body which change colors when I touch my mate.
I’m so jealous. I’ve always wanted purple hair. What time period and location does your story take place?
My home is a planet far from earth inhabited by dragons. The myths tell us we’re descendants of the dragons and an alien race.
Interesting! What’s your goal in this story?
My goal is to discover more about the Fire Dragon myths. At least on paper that’s my goal. In reality, I want to meet the dragons. I know they’re at the fire geysers site but there’s this ranger who doesn’t believe in the dragons or in the mates. He’s very stubborn but he’s my mate.
What conflicts are you facing?
There are two conflicts I’m coping with – my mate doesn’t believe in mates. He grew up on the streets of a rough city, put out by his step father (horrible male) at ten to fend for himself. He’s my mate though and every day I yearn for him. The dragons warn us of a coming danger we must face but they won’t say what. I sense the danger and the urgency but Marelo and I must work together to find out what it is and what all the hints and symbols mean. There are more we need. Marelo is connected to Water Dragons and I’m connected to Fire Dragons. We believe there are others who are meant to help us but we haven’t found them yet.
That must be frustrating. What did you think the first time you saw Lowkas?
Lowkas is a passionate male. He believes strong in following the rules. He senses the dragons too but won’t admit to it. He’s stubborn – very stubborn. He doesn’t want to admit he’s my mate and I’m not sure how to convince him. The dragons tell me to help heal him but I don’t know how. I want to heal him. I want him.
Oh, no. I hope you figure it out soon. Are you book-smart, self-taught, or widely-experienced?
Hmmm I think I’m a little of each. My passion is mythology so I have to talk to those who know the old tales of our world and society. I’ve met some very interesting people while I’ve researched. But I’m also book smart because in order to know whether the document I’m looking at is real or not, I need to know about things like paper and how it was made, inks, and so much more. I need to discern the lesson each myth tells us and find a way to relay that to everyone from the youngest child to academics.
Why do you think your author chose to write about you?
She’s got a thing for dragons. I think like me, they swirl around in her head as she tells our stories. She might even be a dragon in disguise but that’s just how I see her.
A dragon in disguise…I can see that. 🙂 Thank you so much for chatting with me, Solana.
Blurb:
Fire dragons are easy for Solana. Mates? Not so much.
Lowkas, on his own since he was ten, learned early how to survive alone. Stationed at the fire geysers, he finds home and comfort from a source he didn’t expect. When Solana shows up exposing things he’s kept secret, he’s suspicious.
Will Lowkas put his past behind him, or will it take a dragon intervention?

Excerpt
Bolting past the three geysers, he skidded to a stop behind her “Miss, you need to come away from there,” he ordered. Her purple hair and brown skin shimmered in the humid air.
“Sssshhhh,” she kept her hands on the edge.
“It’s due to go off,” he explained as he ducked when Ta-dum belched flame for the long one.
“Thank you,” she murmured as she patted the edge. Rising from her knees, she stepped back from the massive geyser
“You shouldn’t, ” Lowkas scolded as soon as she was safe. His heart nearly choked off his words.
“Don’t be rude,” she picked up her bag. “I have permission to be here.”
“But not permission to…” Lowkas retorted.
He sputtered to a stop when she held up her long finger. She rummaged in her bag. When she couldn’t find what she needed, she handed it to him as she rifled through the contents. Finally, she pulled out a portfolio
“Here we go,” she said taking her bag back. She held out the paper to him
He snatched the paper and cringed away from the heat as she strode through the landscape.
“You shouldn’t be afraid,” she said. The Twins belched out their hot blue and red flames as she passed.
“Respectfully cautious,” Lowkas defended as he noted her pointed ears which accentuated her pointed narrow nose and the smooth jaw line coming almost to a point at her chin.
She chuckled, “Nice cover.”
