#BookReview – “The Convent House” by Margo Carey

Blurb

After uncontrollable electric surges plague twenty-four-old-year-old Alexandra Ryan, the arrival of an unknown relative seems like the answer to her problems. But her new family in Newport is not what she expected. They claim to be members of a Clan descended from the Knights Templar. Gifted with psychic skills, they’re tasked to watch over the Convent House and guard against the evil within. As Alex tries to accept that her own powers will appear on her upcoming birthday, an evil sorcerer targets her dreams. The only person who can help is a handsome but aggravating Clan member.
Will she live long enough to celebrate her new gifts? Or will this birthday be her last?

Review

In book one of the Watcher Clan series, Alexandra Ryan has always believed her mother was an only child, so when she meets her aunts, she’s more than a little shocked. Yet their arrival is precisely timed. Why, you may ask? Alex is developing psychic powers. Now, thanks to her aunts and newfound family, she knows what’s going on—she’s descended from an ancient legacy meant to guard the Convent House, a supernatural place filled with evil. Her life is far from easy, and her annoying but oh-so-attractive neighbor Nick keeps getting under her skin. When danger calls, she’ll have to rely on those closest around her to see another day.

What a fun story! Alex is a strong, intelligent woman who goes on an amazing journey of self-discovery and finds family and love along the way. Ms. Carey’s writing kept me engaged and turning the pages.

For lovers of paranormal romance and thrillers, this is a great book to check out.
