#BookReview: “Sleeping with the Enemy” by Robin Covington

Blurb

All’s fair in love and baseball…but when Kat Carter, the newly-minted GM for the Virginia Venom, is determined to recruit rival superstar shortstop (and former lover) Derek Foxx the last thing she expects is a sexy ultimatum…

Review

As the new general manager of the Virginia Venoms, Kat Carter is working her way up the male-dominated ladder and wants to recruit a star baseball player from a rival team. Too bad she and shortstop Derek Foxx have a complicated past, and she’s in denial that she still has feelings for him.

Derek has never stopped wanting Kat, and now he’s finally ready to win her back. With his heart and the World Series on the line, he’s not above playing dirty.

Kat and Derek have great chemistry, and the sex scenes were super hot. I loved all the dirty talk. Even though I understood their conflicting motivations, I didn’t feel connected with them. I’m also not a baseball fan, but I followed along pretty well and understood most of what was happening, sports-wise.

I like Ms. Covington’s writing style and snarky dialogue, but there were some punctuation errors and missing words that distracted me.

Even though this book wasn’t meant for me, I’m sure romance sport fans would love it. I’d be happy to read more of the author’s work in the future.
