Review
NYPD police negotiator Dave Margolis is having the worst day of his life. His wife is supposedly having an affair, and before he can confront her about it, he’s called away to a try and stop a woman from jumping off a building.
Susan has been diagnosed with a fatal skin disorder, so she attempts to end her life. Only, a police officer manages to talk her down. They form a tight bond. Together, they help each other through their struggles and learn life is never truly over as long as you have hope.
I don’t read psychological thrillers often, but this one was interesting. The twists kept coming. When I thought I knew something, I was thrown into left field. It’s always great to be kept guessing. Dave, Susan, and his wife Lynne were strong, well-developed, flawed characters. Each of them had their own distinctive voice and added so many layers to the book. The villain was truly a nasty piece of work. I love it when I hate a character so much.
The suspense kept the pacing fast, but the message of hope and love despite adversary glued the narrative together. This was an enjoyable book.
