Author Mary Morgan is chatting with me today to talk about her ten-year anniversary for her Order of the Dragon Knights series. Let’s get started…
So Mary, what kind of research did you do for your series? Did you travel, use the Internet, speak with experts on a topic, etc?
My research consisted of the internet, books, the library for maps, and speaking to historians at Scottish-themed events. For a visual on landscapes, I used Google Earth. I loved being whisked away in seconds to Urquhart Castle in Scotland.
I bet! Do any of your characters take over and write the book themselves? Who?
Absolutely! In each story, there’s always one demanding character who will take over and write the scene(s). With Dragon Knight’s Sword, Duncan MacKay swept in and took over the final scene. Obviously, he didn’t like mine. In truth, his version was much better than the one I’d envisioned for him and Brigid.
Cool! I love when characters do that. What do you prefer: ebook, print, or audiobook? Why?
Even though I enjoy my kindle, I prefer holding a print book in my hands. There’s something comforting about flipping through the pages of a good story. Or skimming your fingers over the cover.
Me, too! The smell of paperbacks is the best. What did you do when you received your first Acceptance Letter?
In May of 2013. After several months and revisions, I received a contract for Dragon Knight’s Sword. This will remain a treasured memory in my life.
That’s wonderful. We all need a little inspiration in our lives. What’s your favorite quote and why?
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Eleanor Roosevelt
During times of doubt and criticism, this quote has remained with me. These words have become a shield of protection against those who speak harshly.
It’s a great quote. Besides writing and reading, what are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy baking and playing in my garden. When I emerge from my writing cave at the end of the day, I wander into the kitchen or the garden to quiet the noise of all my characters. It’s my way of escaping their chatter or yelling at me. They’re so demanding. 😉
Haha! Characters can definitely be demanding. Thank you so much for visiting today!

Hello Amber! Thank you for hosting me on your lovely blog! What an epic adventure since I signed my first contract for Dragon Knight’s Sword (Order of the Dragon Knights, Book 1) ten years ago with The Wild Rose Press.
Order of the Dragon Knights ~
They were an ancient order, descended from the great Tuatha Dé Danann, the Sidhe, or in simpler terms: the Fae. Half-human and half-fae, each knight blessed with mystical powers. Given to them were holy relics from the Fae and guardianship over their Dragons.
They were known as the Dragon Knights.
However, some believed the Order had too much power and they tried to possess it for themselves. They were evil and twisted, and their plan succeeded one fateful night. The brothers of the Clan MacKay—Dragon Knights, fought a battle. Blood spilled onto holy ground, bringing forth the wrath of the Fae. Their relics were taken, and the Order was banished—each name stricken from the hallowed halls of the Fae.
The Clan MacKay is no longer.
The Dragon Knights have scattered across the land.
Yet out of the darkness, they will each fight for redemption, and the women they love.
