Review

In the second book in the Fire’s Edge series, Finn Conleth is still heartbroken and filled with guilt over losing his mate a few hundred years ago. As the leader of the Huracán  team—a group of highly skilled dragon shifters assigned to protect the western part of the US from rogue dragons—he’s calm, collected, and always in control. Then the human woman he saves from a barn fire changes everything.

For the past few years, Delaney Hamilton has been having blackouts and wakes up to fire blazing all around her. She’s moved clear across the country to escape the strange happenings and to outrun her stalker. She meets a kindred spirit in Finn, a sexy firefighter who’s more than he appears to be.

The chemistry between Finn and Delaney is off the charts. He runs hot and cold, desperate for her but also desperate to keep his distance. She’s so snarky and doesn’t let Finn get away with his bull. They fit together perfectly and help each other heal from their tragic losses.

The secondary characters are great, especially Aiden, Levi, and Titus. I’m looking forward to learning more about them and hopefully see them get their own stories. I also can’t wait to know more about Rune, Finn’s former best friend and now enemy, and the unknown informant on Finn’s team. (I have my suspicions about who the informant is, but it’s too early to tell.)

The sex scenes are mouthwatering hot and detailed, which I like. I’d rate this story as 5 flames, but it does have an erotic undertone due to the sexy fantasy Finn and Delaney came up with. They don’t act out the fantasy, but I kinda wished they would have. Trust me—it’s hot enough to melt ice!

The story flowed well and kept my attention. The only thing I’m confused about is why Delaney didn’t receive the dragon mark on her neck when she first started exhibiting dragon mate signs. All potential dragon mates are suppose to, and I think Rune may have the answer to that. Hopefully, it’ll be explained in another book, which I’ll be sure to read.
