#MFRWHooks – “Shall I demonstrate later tonight?” — Alan to Hannah #Excerpt

NEW RELEASE!
Steamy Romantic Suspense

Blurb

A hacker, a federal agent, and a crime boss. The time has come to fight.

Computer technician Alan Harding is no saint, but his squeaky-clean image is unshakable in the eyes of his family and especially his young son. After he agrees to assist a drug lord-turned-snitch and hack into a criminal database, he’s faced with an impossible challenge—keeping his hands and heart away from his sexy as sin bodyguard, DEA Special Agent Hannah Adler.

Hannah would rather go hand-to-hand with an assailant than go undercover as Alan’s girlfriend, but she’s determined to keep him safe and his illegal activities on the down-low. The handsome man and his adorable child, however, are more than she bargained for.

Once their enemies learn the truth and retaliate by kidnapping Alan’s son, they’ll have to race against the clock to save the boy and bring a dangerous empire to its knees.

Tagline: His darkest secret is exposed. Will he find love and redemption in the arms of the woman who could destroy him?

The heat of his gentle touch seeped through her sleeve and quickened her pulse. She breathed so hard that her lungs pounded against her ribs. Letting him touch her was a bad idea, but God help her, she couldn’t find the strength to move away. She licked her suddenly dry lips as Alan leaned down and sniffed her shower-damp hair. His strong, patrician nose brushed her forehead in the softest caress as his clean-shaven cheek warmed her skin.

He groaned and wrapped his arms around her. “You always smell so good, like autumn and the holidays.”

Butterflies fluttered in her belly. It was time to invest in more pumpkin-scented body wash. She braced her hands on his hard shoulders and fisted his T-shirt. The bulge in his tan corduroy pants pressed against her stomach. She didn’t know if she should drag him closer or push him back. His minty breath escaped his mouth in short, harsh puffs, and his lips moved as though he debated with himself.

“Hey, Dad!” Danny called out from his room.

Hannah froze. Seriously! The boy had to wake up now? No, wait. This was a good thing.

“I should check on him.”

Alan’s raspy voice shot a shiver down her spine. She stepped back and grasped her heaving chest. “No worries. Flirtation is one thing, but I won’t let anything real happen between us. I can’t risk it.” Where was a chastity belt when she needed one? Her panties didn’t stand a chance against his sexy smile and pools of jade-green irises. She exhaled through her nose and forced her voice to work. “Let’s focus on Danny right now.”

His smile didn’t quite reach his eyes. “You’ll be a great mom if you ever have kids. I’ll get Danny ready for breakfast and call Mase.” He rearranged himself in his pants before he headed into his son’s bedroom.

Hannah shook her head. Her, a mom? No way. How would she find the time to raise a child? A loud squeal rang in her ears before the door slammed open.

Danny barreled toward her in dinosaur-patterned pajamas.

She spread her legs and braced her feet to catch him. Oomph. His little body struck hers hard enough to rattle her teeth, but his bubblegum scent clenched something deep and primal inside her. Maybe she did want a child. What the hell was going on with her?

A huge smile lit his face. “Dad said Sundays are now family days.”

Hannah shifted from Danny’s grasp and bent to his level. His eyes gleamed like dark-green gemstones as she tousled his matted hair. “I hope you don’t mind if I tag along.” How she hated imposing on this family like a third wheel.

Danny frowned. “Why wouldn’t you come? You’re Dad’s girlfriend.”

Her eyes bugged out. She met Alan’s shocked gaze above the boy’s head and then focused on the child. “No, sweetie. We’re just friends from work.”

“Why? Don’t you like Dad? He likes you. I snuck into his bedroom the other night because I had a scary dream about these huge creepy bugs, and he called out your name in his sleep. He also said Let’s wrestle. He moaned, too, and cursed a lot, and—”

“Danny!” Alan’s face darkened to a splotchy shade of red. “Hannah and I are friends, all right? I don’t want you telling people otherwise.”

Danny stared up at his father with wide, innocent eyes before he shrugged. After he gave Hannah a big hug, he trotted toward the bathroom.

Hannah laughed once she was alone with Alan again. “Did I show you more jujitsu moves?” Oh, my. The wicked smile curling his lips stole her breath.

“Not this time. I showed you some of my signature moves, and you begged for more.” He swept his narrowed gaze down her body. “Shall I demonstrate later tonight?”
